I need to connect to multiple databases how?

Hai Friends,

I got the following situation. I have one loan number which
may be reside in one of 7 databases. Now i need to search for that loan
number in all 7 databases. This search should be very effective and
should be very fast. I am very much new to EJBs. I don't know at least
how to connect to 7 databases. I know basic stuff. Plz friends give me
some suggestions.
wether i have to use one connection pool or 7 connection
pools? If one connection pool how? or If we have to use 7 then how?

I heared that oracle thin XA driver will connect to more than
one database simultaneously. If so how to use that driver in my
application.

If possible try to explain me with some code.

One connection pool would work just fine assuming all those 7 databases
are in one db server.
If it is just a query operation why XA?
